COUNCIL MEETING March 20, 1993
Opening time 10:00a.m.
Members present:
Johnathan Titus, Marcus Hamilton, Jim Perkins, Ron Snell and
Carol Clason
Pastor Randy Stephens
Clerk Irene Snell
Randy opened by stating he called this meeting to inform the
Council
of coming changes. "Changes are a part of christianity and
changes
bring growth and maturity."
Pastor informed Council the rental contract on Church building
runs
out April 30st. He also said he will be calling the state
office to
let them know that the $202.00 power bill was only for the
lights and
the contract with BLOC states they will only pay $40.00 on
lights but
the RV's parked in storage area are running their generators and
run-
ning up the electri bill. Randy said as of the 30th of April it
will
be our last day in this building and that everyone needs to be
looking
for a permanant Church of God church building.
It may be possible to extend rental contract on this building if
the
State Office wants us to stay and can help us on the utility
bills.
Pastor stated "We don't want to loose what we've accomplished
here!"
The ceiling on the 2nd Ave church building is starting to fall
in be-
cause of water and snow damage. Pastor said he would never want
to go
back to that building and he wants to find something that would
be
ours, not to rent but to buy and that we need to sell the church
on
2nd Ave to help buy a new building, everyone was in agreeance.
To keep current building it would cost approx. $1,200.00 monthly
and
we can not buy it. It would cost to much to build so everyone is
encouraged to be looking for a possible building and we need to
find one within the next 5 weeks.
The first week of April we will be having a Church Body business
meeting and let them know of coming changes. Council will always
know first anything that going to happen and its how the Council
members bring things across to the people of the church is how
they
will receive it.
Johnathan suggested a Sunday afternoon church business meeting
instead of Wed. then more people will come.
Pastor's biggest concern is not to loose the souls this ministry
has brought in. The next three weeks we will only be having
Sunday
morning services, the pastor and his family will be gone on
vacation.
Pastor needs to be with his family they really need him right now
during the school Spring Break, they will not be here this Wed.
night
either.
Prayer Conference is next weekend and there will be leadership
train-
ings for anyone in the church who would like to attend.
Ron stated it would be nice to find a church building that we
could
afford and pay the Pastor a salary so he wouldn't have to work.
One option of a building is a church in Weiser that has
2700 square feet
small fellowship hall
kitchen area
2 bathrooms
good parking
gas heat & 6" insulated walls
building only 20 years old
Pastor will be looking at it within the next 3 days.
Pastor says we have a wonderful support group and an average of
$2,200
coming in monthly since last June. It will depend on the
committment
of the church people if we can afford to stay in current
building.
Church now has almost 40 people in membership, everyone involved
needs
to know if they are willing to give above their tithes to make
this
minisrty work. Only God brought the Pastor and his family to
Idaho the
Pastor stated and this is our home and he has no desire to leave.
Johnathan wanted to know how we can sell the idea to the church
body
about the moving and he also stated that the words or our mouth
can stop
God from moving.
Ron said he would like to see the church pay rent for a house
for the
pastor and his family. Bro. Clason says the Lord has dealt with
him
in that have we really given the Lord a chance to give us a
building?
Pastor stated District Overseer Ron Clagg told him that the
Payette
Church of God has never had the stability and growth that it now
has!
Decisions have to be made on the church pews aprox. $1,331.00 is
still
due on them by Oct. 93 if we don't pay for them we could loose
them.
Also Council was informed that the bus has been purchased.
Pastor suggested that we could think about selling the balcony
benches
for approx. $700.00 and use that money to help in paying off the
new
pews. The bus is going to be paid off with God's help. Ron
informed
Council that bus needs a tie rod, front end alignment and wheels
packed
and Randy said men in the church could help work on the mechanic
problems. Ron asked Council where should the bus be parked at,
it was
decided to keep it at the Snell's house because Ron is the only
CDL
driver, this decision was voted on and passed with evreyone in
agreement
Pastor suggested when bus is used for church events passengers
could
pay so much per person an equitable fee to cover gas expenses.
Council has to be peacemakers for the Church Body they are the
leaders.
Bro. Clason commended Ron & Irene for their work with the youth.
Pastor enforced the importance of confidentiality!
Meeting dimissed at 12:01 p.m.
